“A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double." -Toni Morrison
Mixed Media, Paper and Acrylic on Canvas
30” width x 40” height x 1.5” depth
Matte Surface
The Sisters explores the bond of familiar relationships and is loosely based on the artist’s own relationship with her sister.
Whimsical, specter-like, figures are painted by glazing semi-opaque acrylic paint in quick, light brushstrokes. Modernism patterns create a backdrop hinting at buildings and environmental structures. The geometric patterns represent the strands of technology that run through our lives.
The painting also references romantic mythologies like King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green.
