Drawing upon mythologides of the old west, the Mexican Revolution, and our immersion into digital spaces, a Mexican freedom fighter steps through a portal into whatever the future may hold. An important part of the work is fluorescent highlights - an intersection between mythology and our world of screens.

Drawing upon mythologies of the old west and the Mexican Revolution, Zapata is a symbol of egalitarianism, common property ownership, education, and popular art. Mr. Zapata is painted in monochromatic purple - a symbol of mythological royalty - with a node to German Expressionism. Fluorescent yellow highlights the frame for a dramatic glow under blue light.
